Abstract

This paper explores the critical role civil law plays in the protection and promotion of human rights within national legal systems. Unlike criminal or constitutional law, civil law provides individuals with direct legal remedies through mechanisms such as tort claims, contract enforcement, and family law proceedings. By enabling victims of human rights violations to seek restitution, compensation, or injunctions, civil law serves as an essential tool for ensuring accountability and redress. The study analyzes key civil law principles and case examples to demonstrate how they contribute to safeguarding fundamental rights such as equality, privacy, property, and access to justice. It concludes that a robust civil legal framework is indispensable for translating human rights principles into enforceable protections in everyday life.
